A mainstay of the northwest latin scene in the 80's and 90's, CAXIXI had a reputation for high energy latin-jazz but musicians' careers are changing like the tides and with band members having increasingly diverse calls it became impossible to keep going.

A recent chance meeting, one or two drinks and now CAXIXI is back.

Musical director Mike Hamnett has put together two sets mixing cutting edge 21st century latin-jazz compositions with classics of the genre by such legends as Chucho Valdes, Batacumbale and Hilario Duran.

The band members can also provide varied educational workshops with experience drawn from many sources including Live Music Now and the Daily Telegraph "Jazz In Education" series with teaching positions held at the Royal Northern College of Music, University of Salford and Canterbury Christ Church University.
